The Pants that Time Forgot

On an ordinary London street, in sunny North London, our own Nikki Wollheim stumbled upon an extraordinary window display.

Preserved in a 1970s-looking time warp, is an array of pastel-coloured menswear items: shirts, socks, bow ties – each with their own hand-written price tag. Mould and dust and damp are beginning to take their toll on these stalwart favourites of stand-up comics and golfers alike, but the shop front has an other worldly beauty about it in spite of the natural decay, resembling a Peter Blake installation,or simply a poignant slice of nostalgia for what somehow looks very innocent and unpretentious amongst the trendy neon displays we’re now used to.
